Staff from PUSPAKOM Head Office and branches in Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan recently took part in a tree-planting program, as part of its corporate responsibility initiative towards preservation of the environment. During the event, PUSPAKOM staff planted 50 Chengal trees at the Kepong Botanical Garden. In Malaysia, Cengal is one of the most popular hardwoods and has been heavily logged throughout the states. It is still common in a number of forest reserves in Malaysia but never abundant and export in log form is now banned.
CEO Hisham Othman said the event was aimed at increasing awareness on the importance of ensuring a greener Earth. "This is an excellent program to bring the staff together and play their part. It is our responsibility to sustain and care about the environment for our further generations.
During the event, PUSPAKOM also contributed RM20,000 to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) for its research activities.
