PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd (PUSPAKOM) is Malaysia’s first and only comprehensive national vehicle inspection company appointed by the Malaysian Government to undertake all mandatory inspections for both commercial and private vehicles. Incorporated in 1994, we are a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad. After 30 years, following the end of our tenure as the sole provider of vehicle inspection services on 31 August 2024, PUSPAKOM began its new journey as Malaysia’s first vehicle inspection licensee company on 1 September 2024.
Our main roles are to conduct vehicle inspections to assist vehicle owners in ensuring the safety and roadworthiness of their vehicles, as well as to ensure that vehicle owners comply with regulations on preserving the environment through emission testing. This is achieved through our strict and thorough vehicle inspections to ensure that vehicles comply with the Government’s safety and emission regulations.
Every year, PUSPAKOM performs more than 4 million vehicle inspections. PUSPAKOM has established a nationwide network of 53 full-fledged and well-equipped inspection centres, complemented by more than 25 inspection visiting sites that provide vehicle inspection services in Malaysia’s less populated and rural areas.

The Road Transport Act 1987 requires all commercial vehicles to undergo a Routine Inspection at PUSPAKOM every 6 months. During an inspection, we check all the important parts of a vehicle to make sure they meet the required legal and safety standards – helping to reduce road accidents and safeguard the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users.
New or used commercial vehicles are required to undergo an Initial Inspection prior to registration with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), to ensure they comply with regulatory standards relating to their construction and use.
A mandatory inspection conducted to verify a vehicle’s compliance with regulatory requirements, including its legal status, chassis integrity and essential mechanical components.
The Road Transport Act 1987 requires all private vehicles to undergo a Transfer of Ownership Inspection at PUSPAKOM prior to the transfer of ownership. This inspection helps protect the new vehicle owner from buying or owning an unlawful vehicle, such as a cut-and-join vehicle.
Any buyer applying for a loan to purchase a used vehicle is required, under the Hire Purchase Act 1967, to send the vehicle for a Hire Purchase Inspection at PUSPAKOM. This inspection helps protect buyers of used vehicles from buying an illegal or unsafe or unroadworthy vehicle.
